a bit off topic of the analysis at hand, but this line “It’s not just about coming into the light; it’s about realizing that the light can be just as deceiving as the dark. “ sent off bells in my brain straight to the common wellness world phrase and variations of “with love and light” as an example of this.

while maybe well intentioned, it’s come to be a dog whistle of sorts (imo) and acts as a bypass to criticism, taking a generally positive phrase and almost using it in a passive aggressive way. not in every instance of usage but often enough it’s a bit of a pattern.

many other things this can apply to as well. great post, as usual!

Hell yeah. When it comes down to humans developing new mindless/operational habits, it always begs the question: who started it? Why did they do so?

Even if there's no ill intent, are we using an idiom to mask authentic connection? Why do we do this?
